Our Core Foundation
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BELIEFS OF OUR CHURCH AND ANSWER THE QUESTION THAT FOLLOWS.
THE HOLY BIBLE
THE HOLY BIBLE IS THE INSPIRED, INFALLIBLE, INERRANT WORD OF GOD AND, AS SUCH, IS TOTALLY RELIABLE AND RELEVANT FOR OUR LIVES TODAY. (2 TIMOTHY 3:16; 2 PETER 1:20-21; PROVERBS 30:5; ROMANS 16:25-26
THERE IS ONE GOD
THERE IS ONE ETERNAL GOD WHO IS THE CREATOR OF ALL THINGS. HE EXISTS IN ONE PERSON THE FATHER, WHO CREATED ALL THINGS; THE SON, WHO IS GOD MANIFESTED IN FLESH; THE HOLY SPIRIT, WHICH IS GOD IN US. HE IS TOTALLY LOVING AND COMPLETELY HOLY. 1 JOHN 5:7; GENESIS 1:26; MATTHEW 3:16-17; MATTHEW 28:19; LUKE 1:35; ISAIAH 9:6; HEBREWS 3:7-11
SIN
SIN HAS SEPARATED EACH OF US FROM GOD AND HIS PURPOSE FOR OUR LIVES. GENESIS 1:26-31; ROMANS 3:23
JESUS CHRIST
THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, BOTH 100% GOD AND 100% MAN, IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN RECONCILE US TO GOD. HE WAS BORN OF A VIRGIN, LIVED A SINLESS AND EXEMPLARY LIFE, DIED ON THE CROSS IN OUR PLACE, AND ROSE AGAIN TO PROVE HIS VICTORY AND EMPOWER US FOR LIFE. JOHN 1:1,14; JOHN 20:28; 1 TIMOTHY 3:16; ISAIAH 9:6; PHILIPPIANS 2:5-6; 1 TIMOTHY 2:5; MATTHEW 1:18,23-25; LUKE 1:35; ISAIAH 7:14; LUKE 1:27-35
SALVATION
IN ORDER TO RECEIVE FORGIVENESS AND 'NEW BIRTH,' WE MUST REPENT OF OUR SINS, BELIEVE IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, AND SUBMIT TO HIS WILL FOR OUR LIVES. GALATIANS 2:16; GALATIANS 3:8; TITUS 3:5; ROMANS 10:9-10; ACTS 16:31; HEBREWS 9:22; ACTS 2:21; ACTS 3:19; 1 JOHN 1:9; EPHESIANS 2:8-9
OBEDIENCE
IN ORDER TO LIVE THE HOLY AND FRUITFUL LIVES THAT GOD INTENDS FOR US, WE NEED TO YIELD TO GOD'S WORD AND HIS SPIRIT IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THE DEVELOPMENT OF CHRIST'S CHARACTER IN US. IT IS THROUGH THE PRESENT MINISTRY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND THE WORD OF GOD THAT THE CHRISTIAN IS ENABLED TO LIVE A GODLY LIFE. 1 THESSALONIANS 4:3; 1 THESSALONIANS 5:23; 2 CORINTHIANS 3:18; 2 CORINTHIANS 6:14-18; 2 THESSALONIANS 2:1-3; ROMANS 8:29; ROMANS 12:1-2; HEBREWS 2:11
PURPOSE
GOD HAS INDIVIDUALLY EQUIPPED US SO THAT WE CAN SUCCESSFULLY ACHIEVE HIS PURPOSE FOR OUR LIVES—TO WORSHIP GOD, FULFILL OUR ROLE IN THE CHURCH, AND SERVE THE COMMUNITY IN WHICH WE LIVE. ACTS 20:24; PHILIPPIANS 3:13-14; 1 PETER 4:10; 1 CORINTHIANS 12:7; EPHESIANS 4:11, 13-14
HEAVEN & HELL
OUR ETERNAL DESTINATION OF EITHER HEAVEN OR HELL IS DETERMINED BY OUR RESPONSE TO THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. MATTHEW 5:3,12,20; MATTHEW 6:20; MATTHEW 19:21; MATTHEW 25:34; JOHN 17:24; 2 CORINTHIANS 5:1; HEBREWS 11:16; 1 PETER 1:4; MATTHEW 25:41; MARK 9:43-48; HEBREWS 9:27; REVELATION 14:9-11; REVELATION 20:12-15; REVELATION 21:8
SECOND COMING OF THE MESSIAH
THE LORD JESUS CHRIST IS COMING BACK AGAIN AS HE PROMISED. MATTHEW 24:30; MATTHEW 26:63-64; ACTS 1:9-11; 1 THESSALONIANS 4:15-17; 2 THESSALONIANS 1:7-8; REVELATION 1:7
WATER BAPTISM
WATER BAPTISM IS INSTRUCTED BY THE WORD OF GOD. EVERY NEW CONVERT IS TO BE BAPTIZED IN WATER IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, THE SON, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT. MATTHEW 28:19; ACTS 2:38
COMMUNION
THE LORD'S SUPPER IS A UNIQUE TIME OF COMMUNION IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD WHEN THE ELEMENTS OF BREAD AND GRAPE JUICE (THE BODY AND BLOOD OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST) ARE TAKEN IN REMEMBRANCE OF JESUS' SACRIFICE ON THE CROSS. MATTHEW 26:26-29; MARK 16:16; ACTS 8:12, 36-38; ACTS 10:47-48; 1 CORINTHIANS 10:16; 1 CORINTHIANS 11:23-25

Convenant
I will share the responsibility of my church:
*
By praying for its growth – “To the church...we always thank God for you and pray for you constantly.” (1 Thessalonians 1:2)
By inviting people to attend – “Go out into the country…and urge anyone you find to come in, so that My House will be full.” (Luke 14:23, LB)
By warmly welcoming guests – “So warmly welcome each other into the church, just as Christ has warmly welcomed you; then God will be glorified.” (Romans 15:7)
I will serve the ministry of my church:
*
By having a servant's heart – “Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Jesus Christ...who took on the very nature of a servant…” (Philippians 2:3-4,7)
By having a dedication to excellence in all things – “Whatever you do, work at it with all of your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” (Colossians 3:23-24)
By discovering my gifts and talents – “Serve one another with the particular gifts God has given each of you…” (1 Peter 4:10)
I will support the testimony of my church:
*
By attending church and small groups faithfully – “They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” (Acts 2:42)
By living a godly life above reproach – “But whatever happens, make sure that your everyday life is worthy of the gospel of Christ.” (Philippians 1:27, Phillips)
By tithing and giving regularly – “Each one of you, on the first day of each week, should set aside a specific sum of money in proportion to what you have earned and use it for the offering.” (1 Corinthians 16:2)
I will protect the unity of my church:
*
By not talking negatively about anyone and refusing to gossip – "Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear." (Ephesians 4:29, NASB)
By following my leaders – “Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be no advantage to you.” (Hebrews 13:17)
By confronting others when needed – “If a brother or sister sins, go and point out the fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over.” (Matthew 18:15)
